Live Observability Overlay
Overlay live service health and traffic flow on the canvas, configure providers, and inspect node-level runtime metrics.
Live Mode displays configured runtime telemetry on supported branch views, helping you relate service health and traffic to the architecture.
What Live Mode Shows
- Health status on nodes, based on reported error rate.
- Traffic-flow animation on edges, scaled by throughput.
- A Live Health section in the Property Panel for a selected node, including status, error rate, P95 latency, throughput, and update time.
Live Mode is available from the branch header in Unified and Planning Graph views. It is not available in the other views. For an overview of the canvas views, see Views overview.
Turn on Live Mode
- Open a branch in Unified or Planning Graph.
- Use the branch-header Live Mode control to turn it on.
- Select a node to inspect its Live Health details in the Property Panel.
If the workspace has no observability provider configured, enabling Live Mode does not show live metrics.
Configure a Provider
Workspace owners and editors (members who can manage the workspace) can configure telemetry providers in Workspace settings → Observability. Open the workspace settings page and choose Observability, or go directly to /dashboard/workspaces/{workspaceId}/settings/observability (replace {workspaceId} with the workspace ID).
Available providers are Prometheus, Datadog, and CloudWatch. Provider settings include credentials and may include an endpoint override and default service namespace. Configure the provider and enable it for the workspace before expecting telemetry in Live Mode.
Health Thresholds
Node status is derived from error rate:
- Critical: greater than 5%.
- Degraded: greater than 2% and up to 5%.
- Healthy: 2% or lower.
Critical nodes receive stronger warning emphasis; degraded nodes are highlighted. Healthy nodes have no warning highlight.
