Keyboard Shortcuts
Use high-value shortcuts to move faster while editing branches and canvases.
Unified Canvas Shortcuts
These canvas shortcuts are registered while a Unified branch canvas is open. Ctrl/Cmd + K also opens the command palette on branch pages. For the Ctrl chords below, use Command (⌘) on macOS; the handlers accept either Ctrl or Command/Meta.
| Action | Shortcut | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pan mode | V | Switch canvas dragging to panning. |
| Select mode | S | Switch canvas dragging to box selection. |
| Copy selection | Ctrl/Cmd + C | Skipped while a text input or editor has focus. |
| Cut selection | Ctrl/Cmd + X | Skipped while a text input or editor has focus. |
| Paste | Ctrl/Cmd + V | Skipped while a text input or editor has focus. |
| Find a node | Ctrl/Cmd + F | Opens node search; this shortcut is also active while an input or editor has focus. |
| Select all | Ctrl/Cmd + A | Selects all canvas nodes. |
| Undo | Ctrl/Cmd + Z | Available when history shortcuts are enabled. |
| Redo | Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Z or Ctrl/Cmd + Y | Available when history shortcuts are enabled. |
| Fit view | Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + F or Ctrl/Cmd + 0 | Available when history shortcuts are enabled. |
Branch Command Palette
| Action | Shortcut | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Open or close command palette | Ctrl/Cmd + K | Works on branch pages, including while an input or editor has focus. |
For the canvas shortcuts in the first table, Find is the only one that remains active while an input or editor has focus. Pan and Select also stop while typing in an input, textarea, or editable text area. The command-palette shortcut in the second table remains active in those fields.
Focus Mode
In the Unified and Planning Graph canvases, press \ to toggle focus mode. It does not toggle while an input or textarea has focus. Focus mode is a canvas display setting, not a change to keyboard focus.
